Woodstock Animal Hospital and our affiliates Ark & Port Ewen Animal Hospital located in the scenic Catskill Mountain Region of NY is a full service companion animal hospital. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime.

    Alan S. Hans, DVM, Owner

    Originally from Queens, New York, Dr. Alan Hans founded the Woodstock Animal Hospital in 1981 and the Port Ewen Animal Hospital in 1993.  Dr. Hans did his undergraduate studies at SUNY Buffalo and Columbia University which led to veterinary studies at The University of Liege in Brussels, then internships at The Animal Medical Center in NYC and Cornell University in Ithica, New York.  When Dr. Hans leaves the practice at night, he goes home to his 3 labs, Murray, Molly and Ben.

  • Cyrstal Winkler DVM

    Cyrstal Winkler DVM

    Dr. Crystal Winkler has been part of our team since fall of 2009.  She grew up in the Kingston area and received her Doctorate from The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.  Her special interests include dentistry, dermatology, behavior, nutrition and surgery.  In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, walking, reading and spending time with her family, including her scruffy puppy dog.

    Kim Chase

    Kim is a Woodstock native that has worked at the Woodstock Animal Hospital  since December of 1988, and is the practice manager.  She is a graduate of Onteora High School and Ulster County Community College. Kim and her husband Tom have two adult childen, Kate and Cody.  Kim also has 2 great danes, Spencer and Grace, 2 fuzzy felines, Jewel and Finn, 1 very large percheron horse, Goose (he came named), a flock of chickens and guenea hens.

    Amanda Prusa

    Amanda joined Woodstock Animal Hospital in 2005.  Amanda is our head technician and office manager.  Amanda is pet mom to Tugger, her tri colored aussie, HoHo and Oreo, her tuxedo felines.

    Amber Boice

     Amber grew up in Ravena, NY.  She now lives in Catskill, with her boyfriend Jeremy and their 11 children (all kitties).  Amber joined the Woodstock team in February 2010.  Amber is the Kennel Manager, Vet Assistant and groomer.

    Brittany is apart of our WAH team as a client care specialist, as well as a verterinary and kennel assistant.  Brittany came aboard March of 2010.  Britt loves working with our clients and their pets here at our hospital and strides to make every visit as easy, successful, and wonderful as possible. Brittany is pet mom to her adorable pomeranian, Lola.

    Jennifer Van Steenburg

    Jenn was born in Catskill NY and grew up in Saugerties NY.  Jenn joined the staff at WAH in 2010. Jenn is a client care specialist and vet assistant.  Jenn is a graduate of Saugerties High School and attened CGCC and The Gulf Coast College in Mississppi.  Jenn has a dog named, Toby, and enjoys photography, baseball and scrap booking.  Jenn's accompanied by her husband Nick, and their very handsome son, Aiden.

    Brittany Lenz

    Brittany grew up in West Saugerties NY, and has loved animals all her life.  Britt decided to make her passion and love of animals into a career.  Britt is currently attending SUNY Ulster to earn her veterinary technician degree, then plans to go on to veterinary school.  Britt has 4 cats, 4 chinchillas and 2 guinea pigs.  She also helps take care of 2 horses and 14 chickens.  In her free time, Britt enjoys playing sports, hiking and being outside.

    Olivia is and assistant that has been with the WAH practice since 2011. Olivia is a graduated of SUNY New Paltz with a degree in biology, and plans to apply to veterinary school this fall.  During her free time, she likes to hike, read, and spend quality time with her leopard gecko, Devin!
